In the wake of early May’s devastating storms, which resulted in tens of thousands being without power for an extended time, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is preparing for a 25% increase in demand over the next several months for fresh products, specifically produce, meat, milk, and eggs. When individuals lose their power supply for days, they also lose whatever fresh food they have in their refrigerators and freezers.

Eden Hall Foundation is proud to provide an emergency response grant to support the Food Bank’s efforts. This funding comes at a critical time, enabling the organization to restock food supplies and help residents recover from the storms' immediate and lingering effects.

The grant provides immediate aid for the Food Bank to secure fresh, perishable food items. It also helps to support accessibility as it covers transportation and distribution costs. Temporary distribution centers and coordination with local authorities and organizations prove to be a well-organized effort to ensure aid reaches the individuals and communities most affected. It is also crucial that the Food Bank helps residents connect with SNAP replacement benefits, providing a more comprehensive support system.

Eden Hall Foundation is committed to ensuring food security. Our partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank exemplifies the power of collective action in meeting urgent community needs and supporting long-term recovery.
